were those damn generating power or just for irrigation/flood control? And will the salmon be able to return up stream? Cool stuff, btw, with the bridges and dams. MOAR PLZ.

They were hydroelectric dams built in 1913 and 1926, but generated a pretty insignificant amount of power for today’s standards. The main impetus of the project is to get the salmon to return. Hopefully it will turn out as expected.
