There’s so much to love about this photo of Christmas at my grandparents’ house in 1985.
Me, with my bowl haircut, completely blocking out my brother. My shirt, which in addition to the wonderful brown striping, was made of velvet or faux-velvet. My sister, with her ’80s hair, who would clearly like to be anywhere else in the world. And the general chaos of opened Christmas presents, which not only couldn’t be taken off the sofa in order to take the photo, but had to be framed into the shot to boot.
